THE PATH TO FLAWLESS SKIN

We all want flawless, glowing skin. But if there’s one time when you really want the beauty gods to bless you with a perfect complexion, it’s at a wedding. Whether you’re the bride or the bridesmaid, you definitely want to look your best on the big day. And while that begins with a beautiful dress, it ends with a great beauty routine. After all, who doesn’t dream of possessing the stuff airbrushed models are made of?

RIBBON, THE UNSUNG WEDDING HERO

Ribbons are the DIY-lover’s dream because they’re affordable, versatile and just damn pretty. Sure, describing them as “affordable” sounds about romantic as a hessian sack (i.e. not), but don’t let my thrifty picture put you off. Ribbons can make an event go from “meh” to absolutely breathtaking. Trust me, or at least trust these images.

INSPIRATION: LOVEBIRDS

When I was a little girl, I always wanted a pair of lovebirds. There was just something so romantic about the name and I was a dreamy kind of kid. Plus, when something has such a sweet title, a budgie just won’t cut it.Even now I think still there’s something beautiful about them. Sure, I don’t want the responsibility of looking after a pair anymore (lovebirds aren’t just for Christmas, people) but I LOVE seeing them recreated in design.

THREE THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER OVERLOOK

After wasting hours trying to find the right gowns for my, I was inspired to open Bridesmaids Only. I felt brides and their friends need a relaxing place where they could have fun and dress shopping wouldn’t be a chore. Because let’s be honest, when you have a thousand things to plan, the pressure can suck out all the fun! Plus, if you’re frazzled when you’re trying to lock down your maids’ outfits, it’s easy to overlook some of the finer details.

THE LITTLE THINGS: SEATING CARDS

Once upon a time, I used to assist an über talented interior stylist called Jason Grant on photo shoots. It was (and still is) his job to create beautiful rooms out of thin air, turning an empty studio into a chic living room/study/bedroom. And one of the biggest lessons I picked up was that it all came down to the finer details. Sure the big furniture is important, but it was the little touches that pulled the look together and made the “room” complete.

ASK TALIA: PICKING THE RIGHT BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES

Like every stage of planning your wedding, picking the bridesmaids’ dresses is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Exciting, right? But because it’s a one-off, I know making a decision can be a little scary. After all, you can’t rely on past experience to help you choose the perfect outfit – because you don’t have any – and you can’t comfort yourself knowing you’ll get it right next time.

POTTED FAVOURS ARE OUR NEW FAVOURITE THING

We’re among friends here, so I’m going to be honest: I think favours can be a total waste, considering most of them will end up in the trash or unappreciated (or both). That said, I love them when they’re actually useful – who doesn’t love a free jar of something? – which is why I’m crushing on the potted favour trend. Herbs or plants look gorgeous, smell great and will actually be enjoyed. If I was given one at a wedding, I know I’d do a little happy dance for sure.

BEAUTY TIPS EVERY BRIDE SHOULD KNOW

“I don’t want to look hot at my wedding,” said no bride, ever. And there’s a reason why: it’s their time to shine in the spotlight and they want to be radiant. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to look like a goddess?! But the day is long and the dance floor sweaty, so if you don’t want makeup pouring off your face or to be hating on your hair all night, then here are some tips you and your bridesmaids should know:
