THE LITTLE THINGS: SEATING CARDS

Once upon a time, I used to assist an über talented interior stylist called Jason Grant on photo shoots. It was (and still is) his job to create beautiful rooms out of thin air, turning an empty studio into a chic living room/study/bedroom. And one of the biggest lessons I picked up was that it all came down to the finer details. Sure the big furniture is important, but it was the little touches that pulled the look together and made the “room” complete.
I think the same goes for your wedding day decorations. Don’t cut corners by giving those smaller items only half a thought or just going with whatever’s easiest. Details, like seating cards, are still important for setting the theme. But if you’re too busy to go searching for inspiration, don’t worry. I’ve done it for you. “We kept our decorations very simple as we wanted to highlight the heritage listed building we were in. We had plain white table clothes and chair covers on the eight guest tables. On each guest table there was a circular mirror with five tea lights and a circular bowl of flowers that were similar to the bridal party bouquets. Imagine this: in 20 years you’re flicking through your wedding photos, it’s all pastels and white – except for your burgundy nails. Yep, with your wedding dress as a backdrop, bright nails will stand out big time. So if you don’t want you and your maids’ fingers to be the centre of attention, I think it’s a good idea to skip the brights and go for pastels and neutrals. But that doesn’t mean they have to be a bore!

“The styles of the flowers I used were vintage and garden inspired, in the colour palette of white green and pale blue. Flowers we used were garden Roses, Lisianthus, Tulips, Orchids and Hydrangeas. Complementing these flowers was interesting foliage’s and seasonal herbs, I am quite allergic to strong scented flowers, so the herbs were a different touch, and the smell of the herbs on the tables was lovely!”
