Theme
There wasn’t really a theme, we wanted something very simple, a little bit old and a little bit new – all the things we like – we were married on the pier by the harbour, we celebrated after the ceremony with drinks on the pier in the sunshine and then headed inside the gorgeous old building for some dancing and lots of food!”
The Wedding dress
“I wore a fitted ivory satin-silk strapless dress which flowed into a structured train at the back.”
Bridesmaids’ dresses
“I had seven gorgeous bridesmaids so to mix it up they wore two different style Bridesmaid only dresses, a one shoulder and a strapless. To keep it looking similar I had each dress in the same taupe/mushroom colour.”
Invitations
“I had a simple white square paper card invitation with letterpress embossed text.”
Flowers
My wedding bouquet was a bunch of white David Austen roses.”
Ceremony
“Our ceremony was traditional, my husband and I were married under a white canopy, where I encircled him on this old Persian rug with this beautiful patina.”
Reception
“We wanted a very simple reception, a stand up style party with lots of dancing and food, we had rotating food stations starting with high tea with scones, biscuits and macaroons and as the night progressed a more savoury vegetarian/fish style standing buffets of dishes such as home-cured gravlax and salmon pastrami, sashimi salads with ponzu dressing and cones of fresh fried ffish and chips – all our faves.”ish and chips – all our faves.”
Decorations
“The room had so much character- huge high ceilings filled with large outstretched old wharf beams and plates of glass which separated the pier and the waters edge so we could see the sun setting over the harbor. We had a mix of old timber sideboards, large leather chesterfield lounges, persian rugs and tables laid with white linen cloths and vases filled with green hydrangeas – my favourite flower.”
Wedding cake
“Our wedding cake was a simple two tiered white fondant covered chocolate mud cake with white roses stacked on top.”
