Here’s What Your Bridesmaids Aren’t Telling You!

If you’re a bride struggling to deal with the mundane wedding tasks, you might ask yourself, ‘What are the expectations for my bridesmaids? And are they reasonable?’. Letting your gal pals know what you expect of them is important stuff so no one is frustrated or doesn’t understand what you wanted them to do in the first place. Here are four ways to stay in tune with your bridesmaids (who aren’t telling you a thing) in order to keep them happy!

Marriage Boot Camp: ‘Bridezilla’
Always remember, your bridesmaids will love you no matter what – but there is a limit. They’re not going to tell you that you’re turning into Bridezilla, and the last thing you want to do is hurt their feelings or become too obsessed over your wedding. Our suggestion? Stay calm, relaxed and collected. Make sure you’re communicating with them, but that you’re not bossing or being obsessive.
Address the problem by meeting with your bridal squad. Schedule a time to meet for lunch and without being confrontational, ask how they’re feeling about the wedding and if there’s anything bothering them. Don’t forget to explain where you need help and ask how you might go about getting everyone involved. If there’s a problem, be willing to listen and to change, or adjust your expectations.
27 Bridesmaid ‘Dresses’
Lets be honest here; some bridesmaids dresses can be a little off-trend. And it’s highly likely that the one you’ve chosen is something only you would want to wear. So, help us help you; allowing your bridesmaid to choose what they feel is best wearing in terms of colour and fit will guarantee those friendly and positive vibes. Many women have become self-conscious of their silhouette and they’ll feel worse about themselves on the most important day of your life.
Online shopping has dramatically increased over the years; slip dresses, printed boho looks and overall super-chic options are great for bridesmaids looking for something more trendy than traditional – that’s how the world works. At the end of the day, nothing makes a bridal party more interesting and dynamic than letting your girls choose their own dresses. Spend the day and surf the net for ensemble options with your maids by being open minded to their personal styles within your wedding-day colour palette. Nothing relieves a little stress than retail therapy, right?
Regret of the ‘Bride’
Brides don’t like to hear the word ‘regret’, especially on their wedding day. Your bride squad – powdery-faced and colourless – lined up besides your fashion designer gown might make you regret some of your style decisions. Why didn’t they speak up in the first place?
Be honest with yourself, allowing your bridesmaids to choose their own hair and make up won’t upstage the ‘angel bride’ you are but will achieve the dream wedding you’ve always planned. A woman never likes to be introverted – with encouraging suggestions, rather than faux compliments (‘ooh-aah’), your guaranteed to have endearing moments rather than the awkward and staged encounter.
Bridesmaids of ‘No Money’ Nation
In the life of a bridesmaid, sometimes money is everything. It doesn’t mean they can’t afford to be your friend, but between engagement and wedding gifts, the dress and shoes, you’ve pretty much forced them into a homeless corner.
In fact, there’s a slight chance your driving each gal towards personal bankruptcy – and no one’s to blame for this. As a bride, you need to take a step back and think of ways to spend and save rather than going completely overboard. If your bridesmaids are having their hair and makeup done professionally, it’s a nice gesture to pay for these services on the morning of the wedding. Most likely, they’ll be paying for dresses, accommodation and travel, so its important to consult with the gals and make sure the whole bridal party is happy with the overall choices. At the end of the day, the bride always has the final say, but it needs to be said (and done) the right way!
